With its old brownfields, Chemnitz City may not be the (most beautiful) hub of the universe, yet it seems to have enough breeding ground for producing unique musicians, such as the producer/live act duo Queaver & Versis.

Queaver & VersisIt all began with an exchange of experiences about music and a billiard match in 2001 and can now be called one of the unprecedented symbiosis’s of two friends who managed to combine their different musical interests to form a unit.

But let's tell the story in the order it happened.

It was at the end of 2001, when the two Karl-Marx-Stadt born guys met for their first jam session in Versis' student digs and something (musical) clicked between them. Something you cannot take as a matter of course, as two worlds collided with Markus aka Queaver being addicted to acid and techno music and Matthias  aka Versis committed to the house sector. Two entirely different prerequisites which proved to be a blessing in disguise to spice up the whole thing.

As a consequence, it is not surprising that Queaver and Versis had their first official live gig in the Alter Bahnhof Halsbrücke club in April 2002, followed by more gigs in the same year, among others in the legendary Club Achtermai. However, to become a team which was able to act professionally, it took some time. Not only had they to increase their initially rather makeshift live and studio equipment in addition to job and university, but they also had to find time for tracks, upgrading their live act qualities and to apply themselves to their own projects from time to time.In 2003 Queaver founded his second project Schematic Tools together with De Greek, which celebrated a release on Pascal Feos' label PV Records and a release on their own label imprint Kugelbox Records in the following year.

However, this didn’t do harm to the collaboration with Versis. On the contrary, with these new contacts, references and experiences Queaver & Versis gained more and more significance outwards. An offer to become live act residents in the Dresden Triebwerk was followed in 2004 by the collaboration with Carsten Rechenberger & Recall 8 resulting in the first release on Miditonal Records. A starting signal which became more concrete, particularly in 2005 with the second release in March of the same year, later followed by release no. 3 to no. 5.

Moreover, Queaver & Versis were significantly responsible for the success of their label Kugelbox Records, which increasingly found its way into national and international record stores. In addition to a remix for Cannibal Cooking Club, Markus & Matthias received their first offers from international record labels, e. g. the first release on the British “Wonky” label Shed Records in 2006. This tremendous career in such a short period of time and the development of a typical Queaver & Versis sound may be the reason for the constantly increasing booking requests at home and abroad and a hopefully successful future with a lot more output and live gigs to come.
